Another Belmont win for PROFIT STREET

After his recent Belmont win, PROFIT STREET was made favourite for the Country Interstate and International Membership Handicap over 1200 metres on Wednesday.

The early pace was set by the rank outsider Times Are A Changing, closely followed by Dextrous Lad. Jockey William Pike soon had PROFIT STREET nicely settled in 3rd spot, just outside Star Glitter. As the field entered the home straight, the runners spread right across the track, so William chose to send his mount right down the middle. the Viscount gelding took a few strides to reach top gear, but by the 100 metre mark he had hit the front, and he soon stretched away to win by an easy 1 1/4 lengths from Dextrous Lad.

Peter was pleased to kick off the new season with such a good winner, and in his post-race interview he alluded to how sick PROFIT STREET had been. Everyone is naturally delighted that the horse is now able to show his true talents. Peter expects him to move into Saturday class, and predicts a bright future for this classy horse.
