Ascot Victory For Chance In Time On Melbourne Cup Day

Chance In Time faced a competitive field in the Pepperjack Handicap over 1200 metres at Ascot on Tuesday. He had not drawn well, so we were relying on William Pike’s genius.

The favourite Casanova Jack went straight to the front from the off, and set a strong pace, so Chance In Time was settled to the rear of the field. On the home turn William Pike began to urge the horse forward, and he wove his way through the field. At the 100 metre mark Chance In Time was still only 3rd, but he sprinted brilliantly to win by a short neck from Exiht and Casanova Jack.

Chance In Time‘s last 600 metres was in a respectable 33.67 seconds, and it’s great to see this very well-bred galloper begin to realise his potential.

Bunbury’s Melbourne Cup Day fixture

the stable was well represented, with runners in all but one of the races. All the horses ran well, but it was a frustrating day, with Realario, Fortidegrees and Wye River all finishing 2nd, Tuffaz 3rd and Pricemonger 4th. There certainly look to be plenty of winners around the corner!
