Belmont Win For Watermans Bay

WATERMANS BAY lined up in a competitive nursery handicap at Belmont on Saturday, over 1000 metres.

The race was run at a good clip, with Gracetown setting the early pace. Troy Turner managed to settle WATERMANS BAY in a close-up 5th place until the leaders began to weaken in the home straight. The complexion of the race changed then, with Checkpoint moving into the lead, and Troy mounting his challenge. WATERMANS BAY sprinted well and, staying on strongly, drew away for a cosy 2 lengths victory.

This was an impressive win by the Eternity Range gelding, and Peter is already eyeing better races at Ascot for him, which should delight owner-breeders John and Sharon Molloy.
