BLONDIE by a nose!

After her very unlucky last run, HEY BLONDIE was quietly fancied to make amends in the Handicap over 1200 metres at Ascot on Wednesday.

The early pacemaker was Classitheatre, closely followed by the favourite Magnifisio, while Troy Turner was forced to settle HEY BLONDIE worse than midfield. On the entrance to the straight, things looked tough for the Royal Academy mare, as the favourite took up the running and made its bid for victory. Somehow Troy got BLONDIE to the outside of the field, and she began to make eye-catching progress. As the post loomed, Magnifisio still held a narrow lead, but with one last bound HEY BLONDIE hit the line a nose ahead, with the 3rd Amphlette only a short neck away. What a race!

HEY BLONDIE is a terrifically game mare, and continues to give great pleasure to her owner-breeders, the Lindsay family. No doubt with her will to win, she will make a great brood mare in the future.
