Core Asset Battles To Pinjarra Success

Pinjarra held its usual pre-Christmas meeting today, and two of our horses braved the high temperatures and swarms of flies to run well.

In the Gannons Horse Talk Maiden over 1200 metres La Noire, having her first start for the stable, ran a brave race from her outside barrier to finish a close-up 4th, after being in the firing line most of the way.

Our second runner Core Asset was one of the fancied horses in the very competitive Pinjarra Park Racing on Boxing Day Handicap, over 1400 metres. The mare had been very unlucky to get beaten at Bunbury last time out and, despite a wide draw, was looking for compensation.

Littlesixfoot set a very brisk pace from the barriers, and William Pike was content to settle Core Asset mid field. As they turned into the straight Core Asset was flushed to the outside, so William decided to set off after the leaders. The mare seemed to peak on her run 50 metres from the post, but she would not be denied, and battled on to win by a head from Coiled Spring.

William Pike was full of praise for Core Asset’s effort after the race, and we all hope she goes on to more success in the near future.
