FULL REIGN rules at Ascot

Both our runners performed very well at Ascot on Saturday. WATERMANS BAY ran home strongly to finish 2nd in the Jarrod Tobin 40th Handicap over 1400 metres. He probably needs a fast-run 1200 metres to be seen at his absolute best.

FULL REIGN was entered in the very competitive 1800 metre tabtouch.mobi Handicap, with a wide betting market. After the horse’s customary slow start, jockey Glenn Smith moved him up to the middle of the pack, and by the home turn was tracking the leaders Big Ted and Goose. On straightening Big Josh made a sprint for victory, but FULL REIGN soon had his measure, and the Blackfriars gelding cruised home to win by a comfortable 1 1/4 lengths.

This was an impressive performance by FULL REIGN, to give him his third success this prep, with two in succession at Ascot, and Peter is now thinking about a run in the Perth Cup if the horse continues to thrive. This would of course be hugely exciting for owners Serge and Sophie Madrigali.
