Meet The Team

Peter Giadresco has been involved with horses all his life. He commenced breaking horses at the age of 16 and has also had experience as a farrier for over 30 years. He commenced training, as an owner/trainer, on his farm in Manjimup, with just a small team of horses. His first winner was in 1989 at Northam with Great Thespian. He has now held an ‘A’ Class licence for 15 years, and since moving to Bunbury in 1993 has built up an impressive training and breeding establishment at Calinup Road, Gelorup, only five minutes from Bunbury Racecourse.

He has been Champion Trainer at Bunbury for a record 12 consecutive years and currently averages well over 30 winners a year from a select stable of runners.

Peter has embarked on a programme of selective breeding to enhance the quality of the bloodstock, and is now beginning to see the benefits, with a number of his home-breds, including Listed winner Just Les, Scopaciri, Spirit Of Bunbury and more recently Performance Plus, having Metro victories. For more details, see “Training Success”]

A testimony to Peter’s expertise is his proven ability to win top class races with inexpensive horses. In the last few seasons, Peter has received many accolades from the media for his remarkable skill in rejuvenating out of form older horses to achieve Metro success.

FayePeter’s wife Faye is an important cog in the system. Having acted as stable foreman for a number of years, she has now handed over to the boys but retains the backroom role in charge of staff, as well as handling the accounts and on occasion helping out in the stables herself.Quintin

Eldest son Quintin is now an Assistant Trainer. His particular skill is breaking in yearlings and preparing young horses. Quintin is an all-round superb horseman, having lived and breathed horses from birth.

He has been a licensed track worker from the age of 13, and his knowledge of horses is out of all proportion to his age. As a bonus, he is a mechanical genius, and is responsible for keeping the stable equipment and machinery in top working order!

Younger son Matthew, also an Assistant Trainer, completed a 4-year jockey apprenticeship and rode 20 winners Matthewin his first year. Although no longer actively race-riding, his knowledge and experience of jockeyship and race tactics brings yet another skill and very valuable perspective to the family team.

Matthew is responsible for putting the final polish on the horses ready for their racecourse appearance and has recently spent time at international trainer David Hayes’s famous Lindsay Park training centre in South Australia to broaden his experience.
