La Noire Carries New Colours To Victory

La Noire made the long trip to Mt. Barker to run in the Stephen Carter and Staff Maiden over 1300 metres. There was a delay to the start, due to a malfunction of the barriers, but this didn’t worry the filly, who jumped smartly and soon led, closely accompanied by Old Smarty.

After giving La Noire a breather, jockey Shaun Meeres kicked clear on the turn, and she pinched a useful lead. Although Let’s Fly made late ground, La Noire was still a neck clear at the line.

This was an auspicious win for Serge and Sophie Madrigali, as the filly was carrying their smart new blue and white colours – seen here worn by Jarrad Noske. Let’s hope they’ll be seen many more times in the winner’s enclosure!
