LADY takes her Chance

LADY BY CHANCE had become rather frustrating after the stellar start to her career, but all that was put behind her at Ascot on Wednesday. She was quietly fancied for the 1600 metre Tabtouch.com.au Handicap, especially with the Pontiff, Paul Harvey, riding.

Making use of LADY BY CHANCE’s good barrier, Paul soon had her up with the pace, just behind the leaders Le Schiller and Traditional Time. There was little change in the order until the home straight when LADY BY CHANCE moved through to take it up. There were late challenges by Flying Force and the favourite Hue And Cry, but the home bred mare held on bravely to win by 3/4 length.

A pleasing victory, which was another good advert for her sire CHANCE IN TIME. In his post-race interview Matt alluded to a change in training routine for LADY BY CHANCE, which may now allow her to fulfil her undoubted potential.
