Le Sacre Sprints To Maiden Win

The stable achieved a winner and a 3rd, on an incident-packed day at Bunbury, with racing held in sweltering conditions.

After MISS DAFFODIL had run her usual honest race to come 3rd in the 3 year old and upwards maiden over 1200 metres, we had a winner in the next race.

LE SACRE was unfancied in the 10 horse field for the 3 year old maiden, also over 1200 metres. The early pace, set by Royal Edict and Hurricane Blast, was only moderate, and Jason Whiting had the gelding beautifully positioned in 3rd. This proved to be an extremely fortunate move, as the 4th horse, Calitorio, fell at the 900 metre point, bringing down the next three horses, and interfering with the other back markers. Meantime the front runners were making the best of their way home, and 200 metres from the post Jason asked LE SACRE to quicken, which he did in great style to win his race by a comfortable 1/2 length from the fast-finishing Whatever Trevor.

A great win by the Oratorio gelding, and this is another horse which should give owners John and Sharon Molloy a great deal of fun.
