Maiden victory for Puck Shapeshifter

The stable had a few runners at Bunbury’s traditional Melbourne Cup Day fixture.

The highlight was a maiden victory for the promising Puck Shapeshifter. The 3 year old Key Business gelding had been placed in all his previous starts, so was well fancied for the Tabtouch Find us on facebook Maiden over 1108 metres.

Once the race got under way, the early running was made by the favourite Magniflying and our other runner, All Settled. Jockey Shaun Meers settled Puck Shapeshifter just off the pace, but by the home turn he had him ideally placed on the heels of the leaders.

As they weakened at the 200 metre mark Puck Shapeshifter surged into the lead and moved away stylishly to win by a comfortable 1 3/4 lengths from Joukaku. Stablemate All Settled finished a close up 4th after a promising debut effort.

Peter and Matt were delighted to train their first winner for Dan and Julie Love. Puck Shapeshifter is a promising gelding, who should progress through the grades as he matures.
