Maiden victory for WESTERN GUNNA

The stable enjoyed a welcome Bunbury success in the PFD Food Services Maiden over 1420 metres.

WESTERN GUNNA had been running consistently all season, with no luck (FOUR seconds!) so was well fancied to break through, despite the odds-on support for Law Enforcement.

Both fancied runners tracked each other through the race, behind pace-making Just A Con. Once in the home straight the two favourites settled down to fight out the finish, with WESTERN GUNNA, under a typical strong Peter Hall ride, prevailing by a comfortable 1 1/2 lengths in the end.

A well deserved success for the Giacci family, who also bred the winner.
