MIGHTY BLONDE breaks through

At Bunbury’s Thursday meeting the stable had a few runners, but the highlight of the day was the maiden victory of MIGHTY BLONDE.

The mare had been very unlucky in her first race of the season, just being caught on the line, so she was a warm favourite to atone in the Simon Hiscox Maiden over 1200 metres. In the early stages of the race Jason Whiting positioned MIGHTY BLONDE perfectly in the box seat behind the pace-making Saxon Suzi and On The Web. Once in the home straight Jason let the mare loose, and she quickly sprinted clear and held on for a comfortable win by 1/2 length from China Aster.

A very encouraging win for MIGHTY BLONDE in only her third race, and Peter and Matt are always pleased to train a winner for their old family friend, Rocky Dagostino. MIGHTY BLONDE is a home bred out of Rocky’s mare Mighty Rich, and is also the first winner from the ill-fated sire SPIRIT OF BUNBURY. Let’s hope BLONDE continues to build on this great start to her racing career.
