Mt Barker victory for THE ROGUE TRADER

The stable made one of its rare visits to Mt Barker on Wednesday, and returned with a winner and a 4th from its two runners.

In the first race of the day, the Ambulance Volunteers Maiden over 1850 metres, THE ROGUE TRADER was third favourite to the odds-on Sloannes Pony. As soon as the barriers opened the favourite set out to make all at a brisk pace, so jockey Peter Hall settled THE ROGUE TRADER towards the rear of the field. There was drama on the home turn, as Sloannes Pony began to hang out under pressure, carrying THE ROGUE TRADER very wide. Using all his experience Peter Hall overcame the inconvenience and, riding the Trade Fair gelding strongly, soon gained the upper hand and drew away to win the race by an easy 2 3/4 lengths.

An excellent effort by horse and rider!

Alan Anderson and his friends must have been delighted to have won with their home bred gelding, out of their good mare Business Girl.  THE ROGUE TRADER, who was having only his sixth run, looks to appreciate the step up in distance and could develop into a useful stayer in the future.
