We mounted a five-horse raid at Narrogin’s first meeting of 2013, and came home with two winners and an unlucky 4th.

RAYTAYA, after some promising runs at Bunbury, was made a warm favourite for the Narrogin Liquor Store Maiden over 1190 metres. As usual at Narrogin, the race was run at a good pace, so Jason Whiting had the Bearcat gelding well positioned throughout. As the field straightened for home he pushed RAYTAYA up the rail, and the horse quickened away to win by an impressive 3 lengths. This home-bred gelding should benefit from this confidence-booster and begin to work through his grades.

After SATELLITE CITY’s very unlucky 4th in the 5th race, MIDNIGHT WHISPERS was well fancied in the Australia Day Dual Code Meet Handicap over 1190 metres, with punters hoping she would build on her recent success at the track.

Again Jason Whiting adopted sensible waiting tactics on the mare, as the early pace was set by Redford. Turning for home MIDNIGHT WHISPERS was ready to strike, and she quickened well to win by a very cosy 1 3/4 lengths, as shown on the finishing print, below. After this quick-fire double Peter may look for some better races for the mare, while she is in such good form.
