ONE RING maiden victory

The stable had one of its rare runners at Albany on Sunday.

ONE RING had been knocking on the door this prep, but just coming up short. The Diageo Maiden over 1200 metres was a good opportunity for her, despite a wide draw.

The early leader Balnina set a good pace, so Jason Whiting settled ONE RING mid-field, but was forced to race wide. Once in the home straight it was a sprint to the finish, and Jason managed to get ONE RING’s head down on the line to beat Our Royal Design by a short head.

A deserved win for the mare, who is home-bred by patient owner Glen Kettlewell.
