PROFIT STREET doubles up at Belmont

On a soft Belmont track, PROFIT STREET was made a warm favourite for the Westspeed 3 year old Handicap over 1000 metres today.

There were excuses for his unexpected defeat at Northam last time out, but hopes were high that with champion jockey William Pike on board PROFIT STREET would redeem hisĀ  reputation.

On jumping, the early pace was set by Vonus and Ruby Can Run, with PROFIT STREET well back in the field. There was little change in the order, and well into the home straight it appeared that the leaders might have the race between them, but William got a great late run out of the favourite. The Viscount gelding charged home down the centre of the course to get up on the post by a short neck from the gallant Ruby Can Run and Vonus.

Connections were very happy with the result, and it was good to see PROFIT STREET back on track. In his after race interview Matt said that the horse is highly rated in the stable, and they look forward to further success, with the possibility of stepping up to 1200 metres. It looks as if owner-breeders Serge and Sophie Madrigali have bred a nice horse!
