WATERMAN’S takes Mungarup Sprint in style!

After Roc’n’Doc finished a creditable 3rd in the West Howe Wine Maiden, our hopes of a victory were high in the Mungarup Sprint over 1300 metres. The classy WATERMAN’S BAY was made an odds-on favourite to win this prestigious $95,000 stakes race.

After a perfect despatch, Impatient Times and Sonny Biscay led for the first 800 metres, with WATERMAN’S Bay settled mid-field by jockey Troy Turner. Approaching the home turn, the Eternity Range gelding began to make ground, but was pushed very wide. Fortunately this did not stop his momentum, and by the 200 metre mark WATERMAN’S BAY had the race won. The horse coasted in to win by a easy 1 1/4 lengths from the fast finishing second favourite Kerrific.

A super win for the stable, with congratulations to Troy for a great ride, and Peter for some astute race placement. Owner-breeders John and Sharon Molloy continue to enjoy a fantastic run with their unfashionably-bred gelding. WATERMAN’S BAY has now won over $300,000, and continues to improve with racing.
