WILD CHARGER, a recent addition to the stable, was one of the outsiders for the Vale Arthur Ward Handicap over 1200 metres at Ascot on Saturday.

It was a talented field of handicappers that went to post, so not surprisingly the race was run at a good pace. WILD CHARGER was settled near the rear of the field by jockey Troy Turner as Inok made the running. On the home turn WILD CHARGER was still in 8th place, but began to weave his way through runners as the pacemakers started to weaken. The Trade Fair gelding really sprinted strongly, hittingĀ the front 100 metres out, and withstood the late challenge of Sireeze.

It was fantastic to see WILD CHARGER bounce back to something like his old form after 637 days in the doldrums! Peter and Matt were particularly delighted to train their first winner for Professor John Voltich, who was equally pleased to get a winner with this once talented galloper after so long! With any luck his patience will be further rewarded this season.
